In 2019, the share of milling wheat in the general harvest structure of the Russian grain significantly exceeded the last year level (69.7%) and reached a new record of 78.9%, declared the Director of the Federal State-Funded Institution "Federal Centre of Quality and Safety Assurance for Grain and Grain products", Yulia Koroleva.

Also, she stressed the growth of the qualitative indicators of the grain in comparison with the last year figures. Thus, in 2019 the weighted average value of protein totaled 12.8%, as opposed to 12.1% in 2018. At the same time, the share of wheat with protein content of more than 12.5% increased from 38% to 64%.

Last year, the weight ratio of crude gluten in wheat harvest totaled nearly 21.5%, which exceeded the last year level (20.1%), and became the highest figures since 2015, added Yu.Koroleva. In addition, the average falling number in the surveyed wheat continued growing for the third running year. In 2019, it reached a new record of 311 seconds (in 2018, it reached 304 seconds).

Due to the very high qualitative figures of wheat of the harvest-2019, in some cases exporters faced the deficit of the low-quality grain. As a result, traders often had to export wheat of the higher quality than it was fixed in the contract.
