As of April 2, Russian agrarians planted spring agricultural crops throughout the areas of 2.5 mln ha, or 4.7% of the forecast (on the same date in 2019 — 1.1 mln ha), reported the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, on April 3.

In particular, agrarians planted spring grains throughout 1.7 mln ha, or 5.8% of the forecasted areas (in 2019 — 763.9 thsd ha), including spring wheat — 175.8 thsd ha, or 1.4% of the forecast, spring barley — 989.8 thsd ha, or 12.6%, and corn for grain — 7.2 thsd ha, or 0.3%.

At the same time, certain regions of the Southern, North Caucasian and Central Federal Districts agrarians planted sunflower seed throughout 184.6 thsd ha, or 2.3% (in 2019 — 13.2 thsd ha). In addition, Bryansk, Kursk and Ryazan oblasts planted spring rapeseed throughout 6.7 thsd ha, or 0.5% (in 2019 — 0.5 thsd ha).

Also, agrarians planted sugar beet throughout 195.7 thsd ha, or 18% of the plan.

In addition, agrarians provided additional fertilizing of winter crops throughout 11.8 mln ha, or 64.7% of the planted areas (in 2019 — 7.7 mln ha).
