Russia planted spring grains throughout over 22 mln ha — Ministry of Agriculture




As of May 21, Russian farmers planted spring agricultural crops throughout the general areas of 38.3 mln ha, or 73.8% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

In particular, farmers planted spring grains throughout 22.6 mln ha, or 77.7% of the forecasted areas, including spring wheat — 9.3 mln ha, or 76.1% of the forecast, spring barley — 6.7 mln ha, or 84.7%, corn for grain — 2.6 mln ha, or 95.4%, and rice — 157.7 thsd ha, or 79.9%.

At the same time, Russian farmers planted sunflower seed throughout 6.8 mln ha, or 83.6% of the forecasted areas, spring rapeseed — 1 mln ha, or 75.9%, and soybeans — 1.75 mln ha, or 55.2%.

As of the reporting date, Russia planted sugar beet throughout 920.5 thsd ha, or 97.4% of the plan.
