According to APK-Inform, Ukraine will produce 71.5 mln tonnes of grains in 2020/21 MY, down 5% compared to 2019/20 MY (75.1 mln tonnes). Particularly, wheat crop could reach 25.3 mln tonnes, down 11% from 28.3 mln tonnes in 2019/20 MY, barley – 7.5 mln tonnes, down 16%.

“The decline of production of early grains is based on the narrowing of the planted areas as well as the unstable weather conditions that caused the deterioration of grain yield and the loss of most of winter crops in the southern regions. Thus, we estimate wheat yield at 3.98 t/ha (down 7%), barley – at 3.18 t/ha (down 7%)”, - explained the analysts of APK-Inform, Victoriya Rozhko.

She forecasted the export potential of Ukrainian grains to be lower than year ago as well. Ukraine could export 17.3 mln tonnes of wheat (down 16%) and 3.5 mln tonnes of barley (down 29%).
