Grain harvesting campaign is progressing faster than year ago in Kyrgyzstan




This year, the harvesting campaign of main agricultural crops is progressing faster than year ago in Kyrgyzstan, declared the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (KyrStat) on August 11.

As of July 23, Kyrgyzstan harvested grain crops (without buckwheat, rice and pulses) throughout the areas of 238.5 thsd ha, up 11.2% compared to the year ago progress. The production volumes of grains exceeded 596 thsd tonnes (up 8.7%).

At the same time, current average yield of grains is 2.5 t/ha, down 2.3% compared to the same date of 2019.

In particular, agrarians harvested 321.9 thsd tonnes of wheat, up 7% and 273.5 thsd tonnes of barley, up 11%.

Kyrgyzstan plans to harvest 680 thsd tonnes of wheat in 2020.
