In 2020, the production of lentil and chickpeas will decline again in Kazakhstan, while the peas crop will grow compared to 2019, declared the Chairman of the Management Board of Atameken-Agro JSC, Kintal Islamov on September 28 within the online conference.

“Lentil production will decline to 43.94 thsd tonnes compared to near 75.39 thsd tonnes in 2019, mainly due to significant narrowing of the planted area under the crop from 92.3 thsd ha to 49.9 thsd ha. At the same time, the yield of lentil will grow from 0.82 to 0.88 t/ha in 2020” - the expert said.

Peas crop will grow from 108.13 thsd tonnes to 121.13 thsd tonnes on wider area (from 88 thsd tonnes to 96.1 thsd ha) and better yield (from 1.23 t/ha to 1.26 t/ha).

Chickpeas production will reach 6.77 thsd tonnes in Kazakhstan in 2020, compared to 8.77 thsd tonnes in 2019.
