Russian seaports transshipped more than 5 mln tonnes of grains in September

According to the monitoring of APK-Inform, in the period of September 1-30, 2020, the export volumes of major grains from the Russian sea and river ports reached 5.33 mln tonnes, up 4.5% compared with the previous month volumes (5.09 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

The shipment volumes of wheat traditionally formed the major share in the structure of supplies, and totaled 4.59 mln tonnes, up 6.2% compared with August level. The export volumes of corn decreased by 9.2% compared with the previous month level — to 79 thsd tonnes, and barley shipments declined by 4.1% — to 657 thsd tonnes.

In September, Egypt (1 mln tonnes) was the key importer of wheat, Saudi Arabia (253 thsd tonnes) was the main destination for barley, and Iran (65 thsd tonnes) – for corn.

According to APK-Inform figures, in 2020/21 MY, the port Kavkaz was the leader of grain foreign shipments — 4.93 mln tonnes. Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port took the second position with its shipment volumes at 4.76 mln tonnes, and port of Rostov-on-Don took the third position —1.11 mln tonnes.
