According to the regional data, planted area under winter grains of the harvest-2021 will decreased by 600 thsd ha compared to the year ago in Ukraine. Planted area under wheat will be 300 thsd ha lower, declared Head of Farming and Crop Office of Department for Agricultural Policy at the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, Sergey Schupik within the online conference Winter planting campaign-2020 in Ukraine: conditions, threats, farmers’ strategy.
“Effective moisture content under winter crops increased to optimal level due to rains in the first ten day period of October. Nevertheless, drought remains across Kharkov, Luhansk, Donetsk and southern regions of Odessa oblasts. Mass planting campaign of winter crops under the condition of zero moisture content is counter-productive”, - he said.
