In January-August, Russia increased export of cereal crops by 12%

In January-August of 2020, Russia increased the export volumes of cereal crops by 12.5% compared with the figures in the same period last year to 26.245 mln tonnes, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

In particular, in the reporting period wheat and meslin traditionally formed the basis of grain export supplies — 19.712 mln tonnes, up 6.5% compared with the first eight months of 2019.

Also, the foreign shipment volumes of barley grew by 28.6%, to 3.392 mln tonnes, and corn — up 62.2%, to 2.964 mln tonnes.

At the same time, in the reporting period Russia reduced the exports of rice by 50.8% to 55.8 thsd tonnes, as well as wheat flour and wheat-rye flour — down 4.4% to 186 thsd tonnes.

In January-August of 2020, the exports of sunflower seed from Russia totaled 845 thsd tonnes, up 2.7 times compared with the result of the same period of 2019.
