According to APK-Inform, the prices of barley have started to grow again in deep-sea ports of Ukraine this week, after short-lasting decline. The appreciation accelerated.

“Despite the overall volatility of export prices, the prices of barley are mainly moving up. Reserved farmers’ selling and rather high export amid demand from China and Saudi Arabia pushed the prices up. Ukraine exported 3.4 mln tonnes of barley (81% of the export potential) in July-October of 2020/21 MY, up 5% compared to the same period of the preceding season. China was the key destination.  It imported 2.3 mln tonnes of Ukrainian barley, up by 2.8 times”, - commented the head of the local markets department of APK-Inform, Anna Tanskaya

The bid prices of barley reached 7000-7350 UAH/t СРТ-port as of November 19.

The expert added that previously such prices (7050-7500 UAH/t СРТ-port) were observed in mid-November of 2018, while the offer FOB prices were 15 USD/t higher compared to the current level.
