Ukrainian seaports halved wheat transshipment in December

According to the monitoring reports by APK-Inform Agency, in the period of December 1-31, 2020, the seaports of Ukraine decreased the export volumes of major grain crops. Thus, in the reporting period the seaports shipped for exports 4.07 mln tonnes of grains, down 17.7% compared with the previous month volumes (4.94 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

In particular, in the reporting period the shipments of wheat decreased by 2.3 times to 0.5 mln tonnes, barley — by 5.7 times to 47 thsd tonnes, while export of corn remained at 3.5 mln tonnes.

In the reporting month, China was the largest importer of corn (1.17 mln tonnes), Turkey was the main destination for wheat (80 thsd tonnes) and Lybia was the key importer of barley (22.5 mln tonnes).

In 2020/21 MY, the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port (9.1 mln tonnes) still remained the leader in the exports of major grain crops. The Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port (6.4 mln tonnes) and the Sea Commercial Port of Pivdennyj (5.04 mln tonnes) took the second and third positions respectively.
