Russian ports cut export transshipment of oilseeds and by-products by 17% in December

According to the monitoring of APK-Inform, in the period of December 1-31, 2020, the export volumes of oilseeds and by-products from the Russian sea and river ports totaled 565.5 thsd tonnes, down 17.3% compared with the previous month volumes (684.3 thsd tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

The shipment volumes of sunflower seed and by-products formed the major share in the structure of supplies and totaled 396 thsd tonnes, including 251 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil (down 5.9%), 101 thsd tonnes of sunflower meal (up 3.4%) and 45 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed (down 3.9 times).

Export of soybean and by-products reached 155 thsd tonnes, including 28 thsd tonnes of soybean  (up 1.8 times), 43 thsd tonnes of soybean oil (up 4.3%) and 84 thsd tonnes of soybean  meal (up 1.5 times).

Export of rapeseed and by-products reached 15 thsd tonnes (down 2.3 times), including 8 thsd tonnes of rapeseed oil (down 2.1 times) and 7 thsd tonnes of rapeseed meal (down 2.2 times). There was no export of rapeseed in December.

Turkey (192.1 thsd tonnes), China (52 thsd tonnes) and Iran (37.1 thsd tonnes) were the main destination for Russian oilseeds and by-products in December.

In 2020/21 MY, the port of Rostov-on-Don (757 thsd tonnes) was the leader in the exports of major grain crops. The port of Kaliningrad (545 thsd tonnes) and port of Taman (223 thsd tonnes) took the second and third positions respectively.
