The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan is considering the implementation of 15% export duty on sunflower seed to be valid until April 1, 2021, declared the founder of group of companies Severnoe Zerno LLC, expert of the Kazakh Grain Union, Evgeny Karabanov within Kazakh Oilseed Summit: Online Edition on January 21.

“It will hurt export of sunflower seed. The Ministry says it is temporary measure aimed at stabilization of prices of sunflower oil on the domestic market”, - the expert explained.

E.Karabanov added that the possible restriction of sunflower seed export causes the downward revision of export potential of the oilseed in the current season.

“The Kazakh Grain Union expects Kazakhstan to export only 294 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed in 2020/21 MY, down from 356 thsd tonnes shipped abroad in 2019/20 MY”
