According to APK-Inform, the premiums of Ukrainian high-oleic crude sunflower oil increased on the export market in January.

This trend was based on higher demand for high-oleic oil from importers, mainly for small batches.

The premiums of high-oleic crude sunflower oil grew to 40-60 USD/t to the price of crude sunflower oil. They were 10-20 USD/t the month ago.

Currently, the premiums of for high-oleic oil mainly depends on volumes. Container batches have the premiums up to 60 USD/t, while bulk batches on FOB basis have lower premiums.

“The premiums of high-oleic sunflower seed were minimal this season due to the sharp appreciation of conventional sunflower seed. Thus, the large share of high-oleic oilseed was sold as conventional sunflower seed. This share may reach 40% by the end of the season. If the demand for high-oleic products increase, we can see a lack of supply that will support the prices and push the premiums up”, - analyst of APK-Inform Agency, Julia Ivanitskaya commented.

Ukraine will export 350 thsd tonnes of high-oleic sunflower oil in 2020/21 MY, down from record 453 thsd tonnes in 2019/20 MY (-23%).
