Ukrainian seaports cut corn transshipment by 1.7 times in January

According to the monitoring reports by APK-Inform Agency, in the period of January 1-31, 2020, the seaports of Ukraine decreased the export volumes of major grain crops. Thus, in the reporting period the seaports shipped for exports 2.8 mln tonnes of grains, down by 1.5 times compared with the previous month volumes (4.07 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

In particular, in the reporting period the shipments of wheat increased by 17.3% to 0.6 mln tonnes, barley — by 2.8 times to 0.3 mln tonnes, while export of corn declinedby1.7 times to 2.03 mln tonnes.

In the reporting month, China was the largest importer of corn (0.5 mln tonnes) and barley (125 thsd tonnes), Pakistan was the main destination for wheat (149.5 thsd tonnes).

In 2020/21 MY, the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port (10.1 mln tonnes) still remained the leader in the exports of major grain crops. The Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port (7.1 mln tonnes) and the Sea Commercial Port of Pivdennyj (5.5 mln tonnes) took the second and third positions respectively.
