Ukrainian seaports almost halved shipments of oilseeds and by-products in January




According to the monitoring of APK-Inform, in the period of January 1-31, 2020, the export volumes of oilseeds and by-products from the Ukrainian seaports reached 0.8 mln tonnes, down 1.8 times compared with the previous month volumes (1.36 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

The shipment volumes of sunflower seed and by-products formed the major share in the structure of supplies and totaled 656 thsd tonnes, including 441 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil (down 12.2%), 210 thsd tonnes of sunflower meal (down 2.5 times) and 4 thsd tonnes of sunflower seed (down 6 times).

Export of soybean totaled 106 thsd tonnes, down 1.5 times. Export of soybean meal totaled 7 thsd tonnes (no shipments in December).

Export of rapeseed declined to 8 thsd tonnes (down almost 20 times). There was no export of rapeseed oil and meal in January.

China (150.6 thsd tonnes), India (137.5 thsd tonnes) and Turkey (83.8 thsd tonnes) were the main destination for Ukrainian oilseeds and by-products in January.

In 2020/21 MY, the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port (3 mln tonnes) was the leader in the exports of oilseeds and by-products. The Chornomorsk Commercial Sea Port (1.3 mln tonnes) and Pivdennyj Sea Port (0.8 mln tonnes) took the second and third positions respectively.
