According to Customs Service, Ukraine imported 14.5 thsd tonnes of wheat at the sum of 118.6 mln UAH in July-January of 2020/21 MY, up 7 times compared to the same period of 2019/20 MY (2.1 thsd tonnes) and up 6.6 times compared to full 2019/20 MY.
Growth of import was based on significant appreciation of wheat on the domestic market of Ukraine.
About 93% of total wheat volume (13.4 thsd tonnes) was imported from Belarus in October-January at the sum of 70.9 mln UAH. The average estimated value of 1 tonne of wheat totaled 5278.6 UAH. At the same time, market monitoring of APK-Inform showed the growth of the average bid price of 3-grade milling wheat from 6950 UAH/t CPT to 8900 UAH/t CPT on the domestic market of Ukraine over this period.
APK-Inform estimates production of Ukrainian wheat at 25.2 mln tonnes in 2020/21 MY, down 11% compared to 2019/20 MY (28.3 mln tonnes).
