Russia exported more than 37 mln tonnes of wheat in 2020

In 2020, Russia increased the export volumes of cereal crops by 23.7% compared with the figures of the preceding year to 48.74 mln tonnes, reported the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

In particular, in the reporting period wheat and meslin traditionally formed the basis of grain export supplies — 37.38 mln tonnes, up 17.5% compared with 2019.

Also, the foreign shipment volumes of barley grew by 36.8%, to 4.96 mln tonnes.

At the same time, in the reporting period Russia reduced the exports of corn by 14.8% to 2.29 mln tonnes, rice by 16.2% to 145 thsd tonnes as well as wheat flour and wheat-rye flour by 20.8% to 248 thsd tonnes.

In 2020, the exports of sunflower seed from Russia totaled 1.37 mln tonnes, up 1.9 times compared with the result of 2019.
