Winter crops were in dormancy in Ukraine during the second ten-day period of February, informed Ukrhydrometcenter.
Large amount of precipitation observed during the reporting period increased or formed sufficient snow cover in most oblasts. Thus, there was no real threat of winterkilling. Wintering was progressing under satisfactory conditions.
“Minimal temperature of soil at the depth of tillering zone was -2-8°С that was higher than the critical temperature of winterkilling. The minimal soil temperature decreased to 9-12°С in eastern oblasts as well as Odessa and Kharkiv oblasts. It was dangerous for winter barley and rapeseed”, - was stated in the report.
