Rosstat revised up Russian grain crop estimate

According to updated data, Russian households of all categories harvested 133.47 mln tonnes of grains and pulses, including corn (in weight after processing) in 2020, up by 10.1% from 2019 (121.2 mln tonnes), reported Rosstat on March 1.

Month ago, Rosstat said the crop reached 133.03 mln tonnes.

Estimate of wheat crop was revised up from 85.873 mln tonnes to  85.896 mln tonnes. Experts raised estimates of barley crop from 20.936 mln tonnes to 20.939 mln tonnes (up 2.2% from 2019), corn from 13.48 mln tonnes to 13.88 mln tonnes (down 2.8%), rye from 2.374 mln tonnes to 2.378 mln tonnes (up 66.5%), rice from 1.141 mln tonnes to 1.412 mln tonnes (up 3.9%), millet from 396 thsd tonnes to 396.5 thsd tonnes (down 9.8%).

Experts decreased estimate of buckwheat crop from 893 thsd tonnes to 892.2 thsd tonnes (down 13.6% from 2019). Estimate of oats crop was remained unchanged at 4.13 mln (down 6.6%).

Rosstat said Russia produced 21.245 mln tonnes of oilseed crops in 2020, down 6.7% compared to 2019. The experts estimated sunflower seed crop at 13.314 mln tonnes (up from 13.278 mln tonnes in January and down 13.4% year-on-year), soybean crop at 4.308 mln tonnes (up from 4.238 mln tonnes in January and down 1.2% year-on-year), rapeseed crop at 2.572 mln tonnes (down from 2.573 mln tonnes in January and up 24.9% year-on-year).
