The volume of forward contracts for supply of new-crop corn reached 2.5-3 mln tonnes in Ukraine, up sharply compared to the last year, when the same volume was achieved in June, said to APK-Inform the trader with Risoil Ukraine, Timur Shishlov.
“The reason is high prices (200+USD/t) attractive for farmers and they do not want to miss a chance. And it is regardless the wave of defaults observed this year and the fact that the forward market is opened now only for those who performed their contract obligations in full way”, - the expert explained.
He added that the form of the contract remained the same, but the compliance was toughened and the limits for each supplier were cut.
