In February, the production of crude sunflower oil decreased in Russia for the third month in a row to 507 thsd tonnes (-1% compared to January and -13% compared to February 2020), APK-Inform says.
The analysts say the production declined due to the limited supply of sunflower seed on the domestic market and its high price.
After some decline of sunflower seed prices in late December, they started to grow again in mid-January and reached record high by the end of February exceeding 50000 RUR/t CPT in some regions.
Russia produced 3 mln tonnes of sunflower oil in the first half of 2020/21 MY, down by 8% compared to the same period of the previous season.
