Cold spell observed across the territory of Belarus worsened agroclimatic conditions for spring planting campaign, grain sprouting and emerging of early-planted spring crops as well as development of winter crops, declared Belhydromet.

“Low nighttime temperature resulted in some freezing of topsoil. The average soil temperature at the depth of 10 cm declined to +4-7°С. The topsoil still has excessive moisture content in northeastern and some central regions that complicates the progress of spring planting campaign”, - the experts said.

The weather will remain unfavorable in coming days.

“The vegetation of winter crops will be weak due to low temperatures and frosts in the nighttime”, - they added.
