Ukraine to rise plant-growing production by 6% in 2021

In 2021, the output of plant-growing gross products will grow in Ukraine by 5.9% compared to 2020, declared the Director of the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”, Yuri Lupenko.

“The production of winter grain crops will increase by 15.9%, soybean - by 12.2%, fruit and berry crops - by 10.8%, grape - by 8.5%, sorghum - by 8.1%, oilseed crops - by 7.4%, spring grains - by 3.1%”, - he said.

At the same time, Ukraine will cut the output of oats by 19.5%, rice - by 8.3%, rapeseed - by 4%, potatoes - by 3.9%, vegetables - by 2%.

“Production of winter grains will increase due to wider planted area and better yields maid favorable weather during the winter, while higher yields will favor other crops. The production of those crops where lower output is expected will decline due to smaller planted areas”, - the expert explained.

In 2020, the output of plant-growing products decreased by 12.3% in Ukraine, mainly due to lower crops of winter grains, corn and sunflower seed.
