There are 143 investment projects designed and ready to be launched in Uzbekistan, including 70 projects for production of vegetable oils, informed the expert of agricultural market and logistics of Uzbekistan, Alisher Makhmudov within Asia Grains & Oils Conference: Online Edition organized by APK-Inform on April 15.
“Uzbekistan is one of the emerging countries of Central Asia located in the middle of the Silk Road. Significant economic changes occurred in Uzbekistan over the last 3-4 years. Large projects for modernization of fat&oil industry were implemented. However, the country still has a huge potential for development of this segment”, - he said.
A.Makhmudov reminded that the processing capacities of cottonseed reached 1-1.2 thsd tonnes in Uzbekistan. However, they are only half loaded today, as the governmental policy is aimed on production of more competitive food products, area under which are growing for account of cottonseed.
“Moreover, the government pays high attention to production of pellet mix-feed. 27 investments projects are developed in this sector”, - the expert added.
