Ukraine shipped 82% of its wheat export potential

Ukraine exported 14.4 mln tonnes of wheat at the sum of 3 bln USD in July-March of 2020/21 MY, down by 17% in volume terms compared to the same period of the preceding season, the State Customs Service says. At the same time, growth of wheat prices during the season resulted in decline of export revenues by only 7%.

Indonesia was the main destination for Ukrainian wheat. It imported 2.2 mln tonnes of the grain (-16%) at the sum of 438.9 mln USD. Egypt was the second largest importer of Ukrainian wheat. It bought 2.1 mln tonnes of the grain (-35%) at the sum of 464.2 mln USD. Pakistan imported 1.4 mln tonnes of Ukrainian wheat at the sum of 296 mln USD. These countries imported about 40% of the overall wheat export volume from Ukraine.

The limit volume of Ukrainian wheat export is set in the Memorandum at 17.5 mln tonnes. Therefore, the export potential of the grain has been fulfilled by 82%. Traders will be able to export about 3.1 mln tonnes of wheat in April-June.
