As of April 29, Russian farmers planted spring agricultural crops throughout the general areas of 5.8 mln ha or 11.2% of the forecast, declared the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
In particular, farmers planted spring grains throughout 3.8 mln ha or 13.1% of the forecasted area, including wheat - 821.6 thsd ha (6.5% of the forecast), barley - 1.9 mln ha (24.7%), corn for grain - 292.6 thsd ha (100.4%), rice - 0.6 thsd ha (0.3%).
Farmers planted spring rapeseed throughout 69.7 thsd ha (5.6%), sunflower seed - 578.5 thsd ha (7%), soybean - 15.6 thsd ha (0.5%).
As of the reporting date, farmers planted sugar beet throughout 411.7 thsd ha or 38.8% of the plan.
In addition, agrarians applied additional fertilizers to winter grains throughout 15.5 mln ha or 79.6% of the planted area.
