The production of main agricultural products will grow in Russia this year, if the weather assists, the Agricultural Ministry expects. It will let to improve the self-sufficiency and the export potential of Russia, they say.
“We expect the production of grain will reach 127.4 mln tonnes, including about 81 mln tonnes of wheat”, - they say.
According to the operative data, as of June 8, Russian farmers planted spring agricultural crops throughout the general areas of 50.1 mln ha or 97.3% of the forecast. They planted 49.1 mln ha with spring crops as of the same date the year ago.
Russian farmers planted spring grain crops throughout the areas of 29.1 mln ha (28.7 mln ha the year ago) or 99.4% of the forecast. In particular, farmers planted wheat throughout 12.9 mln ha or 101.9% (12.4 mln ha the year ago).
Farmers planted spring rapeseed throughout 1.4 mln ha (1.2 mln ha), sunflower seed - 9 mln ha (8.2 mln ha), soybean - 2.6 mln ha (2.6 mln ha). The Ministry expects higher production of oilseeds in 2021.
