The general production of oilseed meals and cakes will reach 625-685 thsd tonnes in Kazakhstan in 2021, declared the chairman of the National Association of Oilseeds Processors, Yadykar Ibragimov.
“Sunflower seed meal/cake output will be about 311-330 thsd tonnes, soybean meal/cake - 158-165 thsd tonnes. Additionally, flaxseed, rapeseed and cottonseed meals/cakes production will reach 72-80 thsd tonnes, 45-50 thsd tonnes and 38-40 thsd tonnes correspondingly. It will depend on the oilseeds crops”, - he said.
The expert added that the export of sunflower product will be the highest among all meals/cakes and will total about 140 thsd tonnes. The foreign supplies of flaxseed product will be about 43-45 thsd tonnes, soybean product - 30-35 thsd tonnes, rapeseed product - 20-25 thsd tonnes and cottonseed product - 15-18 thsd tonnes.
Y.Ibragimov noted that the poultry industry of Kazakhstan is the main consumer of oilseed meals/cakes (up to 66% of the general output). Sunflower and soybean products account for about 90% of the country’s consumption.
“Generally, production of meals/cakes is about 1.8 mln tonnes in the Central Asia, while the consumption exceeds 2 mln tonnes. The regions mainly imports soybean meal for the needs of poultry sector. Argentina is the largest supplier of soybean meal to the Central Asia. It offers high-protein product. Additionally, there is imports from Russia and Kazakhstan”, - the experts explained.
