Winter crops development retarding in Ukraine by more than a week

In the second ten-day period of October, the accumulation of efficient heat was unusually slow in Ukraine that hampered the phase development of winter crops by 1-1.5 week compared to the multiyear average, informed Ukrhydromet.

“In the reporting period, moisture provision was insufficient across many areas due to an ongoing lack of precipitation. Deficit of soil moisture slowed down growth and development of plants”, - the expert said.

Across most of area, winter crops were at initial development phases. The conditions were satisfactory across those planted field that still had sufficient amount of effective moisture.
