Ukrainian agricultural export up 17% y/y in 2021

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the general export of agricultural products amounted to 18.2 bln USD in January-September, up by 2.6 bln USD (almost 17%) compared to the same period of 2020, informed the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics”.

Grains, oilseeds, sunflower oil, residues and waste from the food industries as well as meat products were the key goods in the trade structure of Ukrainian agricultural export. The common share of these goods totaled 85%.

“Asia, the EU, Africa and the CIS are the main destinations for Ukrainian agricultural products. Their common share of export value exceeds 97%. In 2021, we see the growth of export toward all these destinations”, - the message says.

Asian countries are the main buyers of Ukrainian agricultural products. They bought Ukrainian food at the sum of 9.016 bln USD in January-September 2021. The EU is account for about one-third of the export volume – 5.417 bln USD. Supplies to Africa totaled 2.327 bln USD (13%), to the CIS – 959 mln USD (5%).

In January-September, China was the largest importer of Ukrainian food – 2.915 bln USD, up 36% y/y. Supplies to India totaled 1.35 bln USD, to the Netherlands – 1.203 bln USD.

“Generally, TOP-10 importers of Ukrainian agricultural products accounted for more than 55% of the export revenue in January-September 2021”, - the message says.
