Russian seaports cut grain transshipment by 15% in 2021

In 2021, Russian seaports decreased the transshipment of grains by 15.8% y/y to 42.4 mln tonnes, reported the Association of Sea Commercial Ports of Russia.

Ports decreased the volume of transshipment of food liquid bulk cargoes by 7.9% to 4.2 mln tonnes, while the handling of fertilizers increased by 0.4% to 19.3 mln tonnes, cargoes in containers by 6.1% to 61.2 mln tonnes.

In 2021, the seaports of Russia increased the overall cargo turnover by 1.7% y/y to 835.2 mln tonnes.

According to the announcement, the export cargo shipments reached 660.9 mln tonnes (up 2.2%), import shipments — 40.5 mln tonnes (up 10.8%), transit — 64.2 mln tonnes (up 4.1%), and coastal freight — 69.5 mln tonnes (down 8.7%).
