Russian ports raised wheat transshipment by 22% in December

According to the monitoring of APK-Inform, in the period of December 1-31, 2021, the export volumes of major grains from the Russian sea and river ports totaled 3.4 mln tonnes, up by 14.6% compared with the previous month volumes (3 mln tonnes, taking into account the updated figures).

The shipment volumes of wheat totaled 2.9 mln tonnes, up by 22.2% compared with November level. The export volumes of corn decreased by 25.7% compared with the previous month level to 258.7 thsd tonnes, barley shipments stayed virtually unchanged at 266.6 thsd tonnes.

In December, Turkey was the key importer of wheat (760.1 thsd tonnes) and barley (192.8 thsd tonnes), Iran was the main destination for corn (139.3 thsd tonnes).

According to APK-Inform figures, since the start of 2021/22 MY, Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port has been the leader of grain foreign shipments – 8.4 mln tonnes. The port Kavkaz took the second position with its shipment volumes at 7.4 mln tonnes, and port of Taman took the third position – 2 mln tonnes.
