EU raised Ukrainian corn import by nearly one-third

According to the State Customs Service, Ukraine exported 14.1 mln tonnes of corn in October-January 2021/22 MY at the sum of 3.4 bln USD, up 31% compared to the same period of 2020/21 MY in volume terms and up 66% in monetary terms.

China remained the largest importer of Ukrainian corn. Its share totaled 32% in the overall structure. China increased import of Ukrainian corn by 8% to 4.6 mln tonnes.

The share of the EU totaled 31%. Despite the expected decrease of corn import to the EU on better domestic production, the union raised the foreign purchases of Ukrainian corn by 31% to 4.4 mln tonnes.

Turkey imported 1.1 mln tonnes of Ukrainian corn (share of 8%), up by more than 3 times y/y.

APK-inform forecasts Ukraine to export 30 mln tonnes of corn in 2021/22 MY. Thus, the country has shipped 47% of its corn export potential.
