Ukrainian rye export up almost 90 times in 2021/22 MY




According to the State Customs Service, Ukraine exported 156.6 thsd tonnes of rye at the sum of 33.3 mln USD in July-January 2021/22 MY, up 88 times y/y in volume terms and up 16 times in monetary terms. The rye export in July-January is 9 times higher compared to the full 2020/21 MY and is the maximum volume since 2003/04 MY.

Spain is the key importer of Ukrainian rye so far in 2021/22 MY. It imported 68.2 thsd tonnes of the grain or 44% of the overall volume exported. Turkey imported 36.8 thsd tonnes (24%), Poland – 32.7 thsd tonnes (21%).

APK-Inform forecasts the Ukrainian rye export at 200 thsd tonnes in 2021/22 MY, up 12 times y/y. Rye crop is estimated at 610.6 thsd tonnes, up 34%.
