Egypt’s state grains buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC), said on February 24 it had cancelled an international purchasing tender for wheat for shipment April 11-21, 2022, informed Reuters.

Egypt, cancelled its tender as a result of low turnout from major exporters after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

After extending its submission deadline by an hour, GASC had only one offer for French wheat at price of 399 USD/t FOB.

Egypt’s Supply Minister said last week he was not concerned by a potential invasion of Ukraine because the north African country has a diverse pool of suppliers and the upcoming local wheat harvest starts in April.
