On March 16, five bulk carriers arrived to an inshore mooring at the entry to the Kerch Strait from occupied Berdyansk port. The vessels are probably loaded with Ukrainian grain, Andriy Klimenko head of Institute of the Black Sea strategic surveys said.

He said that, as of February 24, the day of Russian invasion in Ukraine, the vessels were in the port of Berdyansk. They left the port on March 15 at around 7 p.m.

These ships were Admiral and Firat under the flag of Comoro Islands, Ghada (Togo flag), Princess Rawya (Sierra Leone flag) and Maori (Malta flag).

“Probably, Russian forces allowed vessels to leave the port, because they needed a mooring berth to be free to use the port for their logistical needs”, – A. Klimenko supposed.

Ukrainian Shipping Magazine cited the local port worker, who request to not be named, informing that Russian forces came to the territory of the port of Berdyansk on March 15. Two Russian guard ships entered the port, and five foreign vessels were allowed to leave the port. The source said these vessels were loaded with Ukrainian grain.
