As of May 1, 2022, the provision of soil moisture was satisfactory across almost the entire territory of Ukraine, informed the National Academy of Agrarian Science.
“Moisture is slightly better in a meter-deep soil layer than it was in 2021. We are optimistic about the yield of crops. Too high temperatures during the key development phases of crops could be a risk. Analysis of available satellite data shows better soil moisture than the year ago”, – the experts said.
They added that the development of winter wheat is slightly slower in 2022 due to the cold spring. The experts pointed the importance of applying of nitrogen fertilizers.
