Russian wheat production seen at record high level

Russian SovEcon raised their forecast of Russian wheat crop to a record 88.6 mln tonnes in 2022.

“Russian wheat crop forecast upped by 1.2 mln tonnes to the new record of 88.6 mln tonnes due to excellent condition of winter wheat and extension of planted area under spring wheat”, – the analysts said.

This year, weather favors winter wheat plantings across virtually whole territory of Russia. Soil moisture is close to average or higher. Thus, the experts raised their forecast of Russian winter wheat yield by 0.05 t/ha to 4 t/ha that is the second largest on record.

“We may further raise out forecast of wheat production, as the weather looks good for the coming weeks”, – SovEcon said.
