As of May 19, Ukraine planted 11.845 mln ha with spring crops or 70% of the last year level, including 5.6 mln ha (75%) sown with spring grains, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy informed.
Particularly, farmers planted:
- spring wheat – 188.6 thsd ha (91.5% of the last year level)
- spring barley – 927.5 thsd ha (98.2%)
- oats – 156.8 thsd ha (88.2%)
- peas – 124.8 thsd ha (69.4%)
- buckwheat – 37.4 thsd ha (44.6%)
- millet – 32.1 (41.1%)
- corn – 4.17 mln ha (76.2%)
Moreover, farmers have planted 3.94 (60.5%) mln ha with sunflower seed, 28.4 (85.5%) thsd ha with spring rapeseed and 982.7 thsd ha (76.8%) with soybean.
Planted area under sugar beet amounted to 182 (81%) thsd ha.
Farmers of all oblasts of Ukraine except Luhansk are carrying the spring planting campaign. Luhansk oblast is under full-scale military activity.
