In 2022, Ukraine can harvest 69.4 mln tonnes of grains and oilseeds throughout the area of 19.1 mln ha, the Ukrainian Grain Association forecasts. Previously, they expected grain production at 66.5 mln tonnes.

“Ukraine may export 31.5 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY. However, this volume will be possible if capacities of land border checkpoints are extended sizably. Under the current capacity, Ukraine will export about 25-30 mln tonnes”, – the UGA said.

In 2021/22 MY, carry-overs amounted to 25.9 mln tonnes, they can reach 36.6 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MT under the optimistic scenario, and to about 48 mln tonnes under the pessimistic scenario.

The UGA pegged wheat crop at 20.8 mln tonnes, down from last year’s 33 mln tonnes. This volume is still 3 times higher than the domestic consumption of Ukraine. The carry-over stocks of 2021 crop wheat exceeds 10 mln tonnes. Wheat export may reach about 10 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY.

The UGA left barley crop forecast steady at 6.6 mln tonnes (10.1 mln tonnes in 2021), and export at 2 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY. Corn crop is pegged at 27.3 mln tonnes (37.6 mln tonnes in 2021), and export at about 10 mln tonnes.

Sunflower seed production can be 9 mln tonnes (16.9 mln tonnes in 2021), and export at 6 mln tonnes taking into account carry-overs at 5.8 mln tonnes. Sunflower seed processing may reach 7 mln tonnes (10 mln tonnes last season).

The UGA expects rapeseed crop at 1.65 mln tonnes (2.9 mln tonnes in 2021), and export at 1.45 mln tonnes. Soybean crop is pegged at 2.2 mln tonnes (3.5 mln tonnes in 2021), and export at 1.8 mln tonnes in 2022/23 MY.
