Bulgarian port of Varna accepted the first Ukrainian agricultural cargo transported by sea by barge from the Danube port of Reni, Maritime.bg. portal reported.
The grain barge is loaded with sunflower seed that will be processed in a private port terminal in Varna.
According to Maritime.bg, the cargo is for a Bulgarian oil refinery.
Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture insists on a careful approach regarding the transit of production from Ukraine. They explained that as a result of the adoption of the Regulation on the temporary liberalization of trade with Ukraine, negative circumstances and consequences for national production are being observed.
The Minister emphasized that very large quantities of sunflower seed, mainly from Ukraine, are imported into the country, which do not pass through Bulgaria in transit to reach the EU member states, but are sold on the Bulgarian market at prices that are below the cost price of the Bulgarian oilseed and oil production.
