The prospects for grain and oilseeds production have largely improved in Ukraine, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solsky said on August 3.
"This year's crop is expected to be bigger than initially projected – 65-67 mln tonnes instead of previously seen 60 mln tonnes", – M. Solsky said.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said referring the information of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy that grain harvesting was carried out on an area of 3.5 mln ha, from which 12 mln tonnes of grain were reaped.
D. Shmyhal also emphasized that thanks to the coordinated work of the state, the operation of Odesa’s seaports had actually been unblocked. According to him, this provides additional opportunities for grain export and greater confidence for farmers.
"In June, we shipped 3.2 mln tonnes out of 5 mln tonnes that were needed to be exported. Exports are growing by rail, road and through the Danube ports. Seaports will significantly expand our opportunities, and farmers will get chance to sell their products. The state is doing everything necessary” , – he added.
