After the resumption of work, Ukrainian oil extraction plants should add equipment for refining, deodorizing and packing, general director of Ukroliyaprom Association Stepan Kapshuk declared during online conference "Ukrainian oilseed market: optimistic or pessimistic scenario" on August 4.
"For twenty years, the Ukrainian oilseed market has been actively developing. A large number of plants have been built, a sufficient amount of oilseeds is grown to cover their needs. Ukraine has occupied its niche in the world market of oilseed by-products. We thought that it would always be like that. However, life made its adjustments. Therefore, today we all need to act", – the expert believes.
According to him, it is clear that oil refining will grant added value to producers and the country. But first of all, it gives better opportunity for export, especially in conditions of unstable logistics.
"The period of processing of an oilseed into crude oil is over. Refining, deodorization and packaging must be actively implemented. We have 7 plants that can package their products. They were put into operation instantly, and they were making money. Packaged products are not so sensitive to price fluctuations. Moreover, we have our domestic high-quality equipment, we do not need to import it”, – S. Kapshuk emphasized.
Earlier, he informed that only 15-20% of oil extraction plants were currently operating in Ukraine.
