In 2022 calendar year, Uzbekistan can import 167.4 thsd tonnes of crude vegetable oil. This is 1.8 times higher compared to the last year, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Association of Fat-and-Oil Enterprises of Uzbekistan "Uzyogmoysanoat" Akhror Abdurakhminov said at the international Asia Grains & Oils Conference in Qazaqstan 2022 in Astana on November 11.

In particular, the supply of bottled sunflower oil to the country may amount to 140 thsd tonnes, margarines – 20 thsd tonnes.

In addition, the import of sunflower seed may reach 170 thsd tonnes.

A. Abdurakhimov said that more than 400 fat-and-oil enterprises operated in Uzbekistan. Their total capacity for the production of oil is 500 thsd tonnes, margarine – 88 thsd tonnes.

At the same time, only 54% of the operating capacity is used, the speaker clarified. So, Uzbekistan produced only 271 thsd tonnes of oil and 58 thsd tonnes of margarine products in 2021.
