Belarus is ready to ensure the transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory for further export from Lithuanian ports, the spokesman of the UN Secretary General Staffen Dujarric stated on December 9 following the meeting between the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Yuriy Ambrazevich, Укрінформ reports.

As S. Dujarric noted, the Belarusian diplomat informed the UN chief that his country "will agree to the transit of Ukrainian grain without any preconditions".

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda has already commented on this initiative, calling it an attempt to avoid sanctions.

"Belarus' proposal to transport Ukrainian grain through its territory to Lithuania is another attempt to avoid sanctions. Ukrainian grain is already transported through Poland and other countries to the Baltic ports", – G. Nauseda wrote on his Twitter.

According to him, the offer of Belarus to transport grain through its territory is a trap.

"This is a trap. Let's not get into it", – the Lithuanian president summed up.
