The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a partnership with three key Ukrainian companies to help Ukraine overcome the immediate and long-term export logistics challenges caused by Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the press service of the Nibulon company reported.

"The combined investments of USAID, Grain Alliance, Kernel and Nibulon exceed $44 mln and, according to forecasts, will increase the grain transportation capacity by approximately 3.35 mln tonnes per year, which will contribute to the development of Ukraine's economy and ensure the supply of much-needed grain to the global market," the message states.

In particular, joint investments amount to $8 mln through the Agricultural Sustainability Initiative in Ukraine (AGRI-Ukraine) and more than $36 mln from the specified companies. The investment is expected to increase grain export operations at three terminals: Danube ports of Izmail and Reni, and Čirna nad Tisou in Slovakia.

"Kernel and Nibulon's investments will cover a range of needs – from the design and reconstruction of berths in the port of Reni to the expansion of the operational capabilities of the port of Ismail. Grain Alliance will acquire a transshipment facility in Slovakia, which will include the construction of silos and the purchase of transport equipment, including trucks and railcars. USAID, in turn, will purchase grain loading equipment, temporary storage facilities, and restored locomotives for use in Ukraine," the message reads.
