The Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union on the road freight transport liberalization has been extended until June 30, 2024, reported the press service of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine on March 16.

In particular, the relevant agreement was reached during the first meeting of the Joint Committee of the Agreement on Freight Transportation by Road Transport.

"During the first year, the agreement proved its effectiveness. During the period of its validity, the volumes of two-way and transit road freight transportation increased by more than 50%. And this is far from the limit of our growth, - said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction - Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

He also noted that the number of carriers crossing the border to the EU increased by 53% compared to the same period in 2021, and the number of crossings increased by 43%, after the signing of the Agreement in June 2022.

The agreement on freight transportation by road was signed on June 29, 2022. The document canceled the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain appropriate permits for bilateral and transit transportation to EU countries. The agreement made it possible to avoid slowing down the export of Ukrainian products through automobile checkpoints.
