Russian wheat export more than doubled in March

In the first 20 days of March, Russia exported 2.706 mln tonnes of wheat, which is 2.3 times higher year-on-year, Interfax reports with reference to monitoring data of the Russian Grain Union.

Also, in the period March 1-20, shipments of Russian corn increased 2.4 times to 370 thsd tonnes, while barley exports decreased by 8.2% to 91 thsd tonnes. In total, 3.167 mln tonnes of main grains were exported in the current month, which is 2.2 times higher year-on-year.

"The export dynamics indicates that by the end of March, about 4.9 mln tonnes of grain can be shipped, which is 26% higher y-o-y. In particular, shipments of wheat may increase by 2.2 times, up to 4.2 mln tonnes. Last season in March, 1,913,000 tonnes of wheat were exported," said Elena Tyurina, director of the RGU analytical department.
