According to preliminary estimates of APK-Inform Agency, in March of 2022/23 MY, the export of soybeans from Ukraine increased to the maximum monthly volume since January 2020, amounting to 417 thsd tonnes (+27% month-on-month).

The main importers of Ukrainian soybeans were Turkey (with a share of 48%) and the EU countries (37%) in the reporting month.

The total volume of soybeans exported in September-March in 2022/23 MY from Ukraine amounted to 2.4 mln tonnes, the maximum over the last 3 seasons, of which nearly a half was shipped to the EU.

But in the future, import demand for Ukrainian soybeans may change under the influence of external factors: restrictions on the import of Ukrainian products by a number of EU countries, sufficient reserves of raw materials of key European importers, and an increase in the supply of new oilseeds from South America.

According to preliminary estimates, the export of soybeans in April will drop by more than half, due to a significant decrease in demand from Poland, Romania, and other EU countries: during the 4 weeks of the specified month, the export of this crop from Ukraine amounted to only about 160 thsd tonnes. Shipments to other, more distant, importing countries of Ukrainian soybeans also remain limited due to the slowdown of the "grain corridor".
